A further glimpse at the future the Wyrecats envisioned, and what they were doing to make it happen-- down to plugging the free transport/assistive suits on daytime talk shows with more than a little patronizing treatment.

Of course, the issue is - the people who fund you always want something in return...

Since the Wyrecats were funded by K.A.'s dad, himself funded by the military industrial complex, this was something the latter found....problematic.

So sad seeing the possibilities versus the outcome :(

It will not be easy throwing what seems to be an ideal future for a present that there is not much hope of saving. Advertising and giving out bionic suits to any one capable and responsible seems
very noble...

Good guy Lamar. Good guy, sorta-kinda-naive, Lamar. I'll take that over embittered any day though. =)

I really wish things had turned out this way.

Re-hab: a good therapist exercises many parts of the body in order to increase the function of the whole. The most critical element lies in the center, the pelvisl, the lower back,
, I think a special vest, many pockets, the freedom of the arms. Good Stuff, Neil

And the internet auction sites bustle with people who lied about needing the suits sell them to other people who also don't need them, but want them for nefarious purposes.

It's not that everyone is a dirtbag, it's that those who are, make up for their relatively small numbers by sheer scumminess.

There's always a risk with any technology of it being misused, since early man discovered that a stick can be used to beat people over the head. But the mass-produced Wyrecats suits, I imagine, wouldn't have been as inherently dangerous as, say, a car-- nothing like the near-invincible war machines they're wearing today.

Oh, true, but I wasn't commenting on the technology, just the distribution model and pricing structure (or lack thereof), and the certainty that the unscrupulous would find a way to divert a ruinously large percentage of units away from the needy. Every time something is offered for truly free. then parasites swarm like, well parasites, and soak as much of it up as possible.

Lamar brings us back to the importance of being just and fair. There always has to be (at least) one to ruin that "use responsibly" warning label on products!
