We've already seen a bit of Lamar in the flashbacks, hereand here. Like all of the Wyrecats, his name comes in part from a voice actor, in this case Phil Lamarr , a veteran of Mad TV and the voice of Samurai Jack, Green Lantern, Static, Vamp, and many others. This is of particular importance to Lamar the character, since lacking his own biological voice, he would model his speech program after someone particularly awesome.

Can you guess where the other Wyrecats get their names from?

Oh man... he seems sweet.

Why do I have the terrible feeling this is going to get awkward or something?

It's so weird because Phil Lamarr is the first person I think of when I think of the name "Lamar".

I wonder if K.A is interpreting this as a date-kind of situation whereas Lamar actually has other intentions?

Well, few others can say that they've voiced adult superheroes, teen superheroes, taciturn ronins, vaguely British AIs, Romanian S&M nanotech vampires, passive-aggressive alien overlords, and many more.
