As we enter the final page of Chapter One, we must ask; does past-Bryce have a point that some tech is inherently more destructive than others? How much would it hurt to be killed by a cheese grater? And was Kirk Percival thinking that the name could be improved through deliberate misspelling?

Heh, I like that the deciding factor was that a dad can't say no to his daughter. And I also admit that I thought you'd got the spelling of "wire cats" wrong in these last two pages. Shows what I know!

It's hard to say as many of the world major developments came about through war, and not all them were weapons. Take can foods as a example. If anyone got hold of their technology, it would be like the early tanks.

As for the cheese grater... never ever underestimate the limits of human cruelty, and creativity.

I think Mela might be my favorite and not just because she bears some of my namesake. Incidentally, I actually saw a horror movie where somebody got chopped in half by a ceiling fan.

Then you'll be happy that Mela is the main focus of the next chapter...

Yeah, sure creepy dad. What can't be purchased can be purloined, huh?

Continuing the murder tool train of thought: a rock in a sock, silly-putty, roll of carpet, sunglasses, poisoned paper cuts, mom jeans, a high piercing screech, an ice dagger...

Yep, everything can be a deadly weapon if used in the right way

I like the comic so far, looking forwards to next chapter!

Kinda hope dad was open to the idea going in, and was not entire swayed by her doe-eyes. A man like him without impulse control is a little scary.

The situation of the current Wyrecats' world may have its seed planted here... the result of naivety and judgement clouded by parental instinct. Why not? After all, what harm could it possibly do?
As for Bryce, he sounds like a voice of reason on this page. But on the last, I got the feeling he wasn't entirely opposed to militarization. Maybe future Bryce's actions are based on guilt that resulted from this.
As a chef that has worked with cheese graters and mandolins many times, I can tell you from experience that it would hurt.

It makes me sad to see the way it WAS, because it's really heart-warming, and we know the hammer drops at some point.

This has to hurt, to create something so beautiful, only to know you have to destroy it, Neil...

So many ways to take a life: spoons, pans, hairbrushes, ice cubes... XD
